LDCL provides essential cargo transportation services through a fleet of four dedicated cargo barges owned by Administration of U T of Lakshadweep, comprising two vessels with a capacity of 600 tonnes and two with a capacity of 792 tonnes, supported by GRT of 738 and 1220 tonnes respectively. These vessels, constructed between 1993 and 2014, feature robust designs with lengths of 55.50 and 72.00 meters and draughts of 2.70 and 2.50 meters, reflecting a legacy of enduring maritime craftsmanship. Serving as a vital logistical backbone for the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, these barges play a crucial role in maintaining uninterrupted cargo movement across the islands, reinforcing LDCL’s commitment to regional connectivity, operational reliability, and sustainable development.
